New Icon: please help!

Ever sinced i've joined the site i haven't been able to get an icon. I've tried a number of times to resize images to 50 X 50 or whatever the requirements were, but every time i tried there was something wrong. If anyone would have any ideas about what could be wrong or anything that would be great.
